Adam's Peak
Adam's Peak, also known as Sri Pada, is a prominent mountain located in
central Sri Lanka. It is revered as a sacred site by Buddhists, Hindus,
Muslims, and Christians alike, and it is famous for the "Sri Pada" or
"Sacred Footprint," a rock formation at its summit which is believed by
different religious traditions to be the footprint of Buddha, Shiva, Adam,
or St. Thomas, depending on the religious beliefs.
Adam's Peak is a popular pilgrimage destination, especially during the
pilgrimage season, which typically runs from December to May. Thousands of
pilgrims climb the mountain to pay homage to the sacred footprint and to
witness the breathtaking sunrise from the summit.
